In creating and maintaining a mentally healthy workplace, it’s valuable for today’s employers to consider demonstrating commitment to equality between mental and physical health by training an equal number of Mental Health First Aiders as physical first aiders. Having a diverse mix of mental health first aiders, from across all levels of an organisation, can also help to make mental health support more accessible to every employee. Mental Health First Aid England’s goal is to train 1 in 10 people in mental health first aid.
We are approved Mental Health First Aid instructors, offering delivery of the 2-Day Mental Health First Aider course, which is available as a two-day face to face session, or as a flexible online programme delivered over 4 sessions plus individual study/preparatory work.
What is Mental Health First Aid?
We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Mental ill health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life.
Although things are improving, stigma still exists around mental ill health. As a society, we don’t tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health. This means that people may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague experiencing a mental health issue, or where to go for support with their own mental health.
Mental Health First Aid is a training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue. It won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening.
Employees who take the course will learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health, develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone, and gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing and tackle stigma.

Ongoing Support for Mental Health First Aiders
Being a Mental Health First Aider is a rewarding role, but it can also be a challenging one at times. We can offer ongoing solutions to support your mental health first aid trained network, such as facilitated meetings and/or one-to-one sessions for your first aiders to discuss the role, share ideas and debrief experiences.
